Mountains of the Mind, Veins of Madness
The artwork explores our connection with nature and the way it can both support and test our wellbeing. The mountain becomes a symbol of scale, endurance and awe, a place that can make us feel grounded and calm, but also small, exposed and vulnerable. Running through the mountain are lines that resemble veins, paths or thoughts, connecting the physical landscape with the landscape of the mind. They suggest that nature and our inner world are not entirely separate; both can be unpredictable, beautiful, overwhelming and difficult to navigate. Mountains of the Mind, Veins of Madness sits between these opposing experiences. The mountain offers perspective and clarity, while its scale and harshness can also unsettle us. It reflects the idea that nature is not simply a place of comfort or escape, but somewhere we can be challenged, changed and brought face to face with ourselves.
